Mercury Boom – Catch the star, avoid the mine. At the bottom of the screen is a cannon that shoots projectiles upwards. Projectiles fall from above. Sounds simple? It is. But simplicity is deceptive.
Controls – Swipe your finger left or right along the bottom of the screen. The cannon responds instantly. The projectiles fall at different speeds and in different sequences – your task isn't just to shoot, but to think.
Stars and Mines
In each level, you have to destroy or capture a certain number of Mercury stars. A bar at the bottom of the screen shows your progress, next to a number, for example, 2 out of 5. Doesn't sound like much. But to destroy a star, you have to hit it four times. By upgrading your Strength in the shop, you can reduce the number of hits required to three, two, or one. Three upgrades – and you'll be shooting like a pro.
Mines are the enemies. If you hit a mine with a shot, it explodes and costs you a life. You start with one life. Period. One mistake – and you have to start the level over. But in the shop, you can buy a life upgrade, giving you two, three, or four lives. A maximum of four lives. After that, you have to start again.
Shop and Progression
There are three upgrade options in the shop:
Strength – reduces the number of hits required per star (4 → 3 → 2 → 1). Each upgrade costs $1000.
Life – increases the number of lives (1 → 2 → 3 → 4). Each upgrade costs $1000.
Multiplier – increases the points awarded per destroyed star (100 → 150 → 200 → 300). Each upgrade costs $1000 → $2000 → $3000.
Money is awarded for completed levels. The amount corresponds to the number of points earned. Levels that have already been completed can be replayed – you also receive money for doing so.
Levels and Difficulty
The game has 45 levels. The first level has five stars, the last thirty. And that's not the only change.
With each level:
The falling speed of the stars and mines increases;
The interval between the appearance of objects shortens;
The probability of a mine appearing increases – from 12% in the first level to 35% in the last.
The higher the level, the more stars you have to collect. The more stars, the longer the game lasts. The longer the game lasts, the higher the probability of making a mistake.
Lives and Defeat
One life is a test. Four lives are a chance. But even with four lives, you can lose if you don't pay attention to the mines.
When the lives are used up, the level starts over. Your progress won't be reset, but the money you've collected will remain. You can buy upgrades and try again.
Skin Shop
In the shop, you can buy different orbs. Each costs $1,000. Choose one you like. Skins don't affect the gameplay—only the appearance.
