GP Locum is the admin half of locum work, done properly on your phone.
Log a session in the car park before you forget it. Raise the invoice from the sessions you already logged. Fill Form A and Form B from the same figures rather than typing them a third time. And know, at any point in the year, what you should be putting aside for tax.
FREE, FOR GOOD
Diary - log a session in seconds. Practices remember their own fee, so the second session at the same surgery is two taps. Copy a session to another day. Add your shifts to your phone's calendar. Bring in past sessions from a spreadsheet, a calendar file or your phone's calendar.
Invoices - built from the sessions in your diary, as a proper PDF you can email or share straight from the app. Numbering runs itself. Mark each one sent and paid, with the dates, so you can see at a glance what you are owed.
Expenses - log what you spend as you spend it, in the category HMRC expects: indemnity, GMC, memberships, equipment, travel.
Mileage log - the expense locums most often under-claim. Enter each journey's distance and the app keeps the log at the HMRC rate, with the drop from 55p to 25p after 10,000 miles applied correctly.
Income and expenses statements - the whole year, or any dates you choose, as a PDF or a spreadsheet for your accountant.

The paperwork, done for you:
- NHS Pension Form A and Form B - the genuine NHSBSA forms, filled in from your sessions and saved as PDFs. The 90% pensionable pay, the 14.38% employer contribution, the tiered member rate and the cumulative figure for box j are worked out for you, and the 10-week deadline is counted down. Add your signature once, by drawing it or typing your name. Forms are kept exactly as they were made.
- What to set aside for tax - income tax, Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance, and student loan if you have one, updated as the year goes on.
- Making Tax Digital quarterly updates, in HMRC's expense boxes, and the workbook your bridging software imports (123 Sheets or My Tax Digital). GP Locum is not HMRC-recognised software, so you send the update through your own bridging software.
- Automatic road distances from home to each practice, filled into your mileage log.
Everything is included free for your first 90 days, and no card is taken. After that, GP Locum Pro is £5.49 a month or £49.99 a year. The free features above stay free for as long as you use the app, and nothing you have already made, including any pension form, is ever taken away.
Payment is charged to your Google Play account. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
YOUR RECORDS, ON YOUR PHONE AND ONLINE
Your records live on your phone and work without a signal. If you want them backed up, and to open them on a computer, sign in with your email (a code is sent to you, there is no password) and your records stay in step with gplocumapp.co.uk. It is optional: the app works fully without an account. On the website you can also get a private calendar link, to show your diary in Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar.
Your bank details, National Insurance number, GMC number, pension membership number and signature are locked on your own devices before they leave the phone, with a key only you hold, so nobody else can read them. There is no analytics and there are no ads.
You can also save a backup file wherever you like, and restore from it.
