The legendary ZynAddSubFX has made its way to Android.
ZynAddSubFX Android is an open source experimental standalone port of the iconic open source synthesizer, rebuilt for Android with a native audio engine and a UI designed to closely reproduce the classic desktop experience as faithfully as possible.
This alpha release focuses on bringing the core feeling of ZynAddSubFX to mobile:
- native audio rendering on Android
- preset loading and early compatibility work
- a first playable touch interface
What to expect in this alpha:
- standalone synthesizer app for Android
- native engine integration adapted for mobile devices
- standard preset support
- essential controls for quick testing and sound exploration
- a reworked mobile first user experience.
Project status:
- experimental alpha release
- some features are still incomplete or in active development
- behavior and performance may vary depending on device
- this version is intended for early testing, validation, and feedback
Design approach:
Apart from the necessary UX adaptations for Android, this port attempts to reproduce the original ZynAddSubFX experience as closely as possible rather than reinvent it.

Notes:
- this app does not yet aim for full desktop feature parity
