Appkage helps you take back your time. Choose the apps and websites that distract you, set a focus session, and Appkage blocks them until your session ends. No willpower required — the app does the hard part for you.
Everything runs on your device. No accounts, no cloud, no data collection. Your usage data never leaves your phone.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Create a blocking profile — pick the apps and websites you want to block
2. Set a schedule or start a focus session (25 min, 45 min, 1 hour, or 90 min)
3. When you try to open a blocked app, Appkage shows a full-screen block screen instead
4. Choose a block screen experience: breathing exercise, motivational quote, custom image, or voice message
5. After your session ends, everything unlocks automatically

PRIVACY FIRST
Appkage has no backend, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. All your data — usage stats, profiles, schedules, and settings — is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. Nothing is ever sent over the internet. We cannot see your data because we never receive it.
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE DISCLOSURE
Appkage uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when you open a blocked app during a focus session and display the block screen. This is the core functionality of the app — Android does not provide any other API for real-time app detection.
Data accessed through the Accessibility Service:
- Foreground app package name (to check if it is on your blocked list)
- Browser URL bar content (to check if a blocked website is being visited)
This data is processed entirely on your device in real time. It is not collected, stored, logged, sold, or transferred to any third party, except as necessary to provide the blocking feature or as required by law.
The Accessibility Service is idle when no focus session is active. When active, it performs a single local lookup per app switch (under 1 millisecond) and takes no other action.
PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
- Accessibility Service: Detects blocked app launches (core feature)
- Display over other apps: Shows the block screen reliably on all Android devices
- Usage access: Reads your screen time for the insights dashboard
- Notifications: Shows the persistent notification during active sessions
- Battery optimization exemption: Prevents Android from killing the blocking service in the background
- Exact alarms: Starts and stops scheduled blocking sessions on time
All permissions are used solely for the features described above. No data is transmitted off your device.
- Accessibility Service must be enabled for app blocking to work
