CatchTrail is a private fishing journal built to help you remember what happened on the water and learn from every outing. Log a catch in seconds, then add as much—or as little—detail as you want.
QUICK, FLEXIBLE CATCH LOGGING
Record the species or catch, number caught, date, favorite status, photos, place, technique, method, outcome, notes, measurements, water details, and conditions. Only the catch description is required.
YOUR JOURNAL, MADE USEFUL
Search your history by species, place, technique, or notes. Filter favorites and measured catches, revisit entries on a map, and use personal insights to spot patterns across species, techniques, places, and seasons.
OPTIONAL LOCATION AND CONDITIONS
CatchTrail asks for location only after you choose automatic location during setup or tap Use current location. When requested, it can save the coordinates, place name, and current weather with the entry. Core journal features work without location access.
BUILT FOR HOW YOU FISH
Use imperial or metric measurements. CatchTrail works for freshwater and saltwater fishing, shore and boat fishing, fly and conventional tackle, detailed pattern tracking, or simply saving good memories.
BRING YOUR OLD FISHNET JOURNAL
Import the original FishNet fish.db database or fishdata.csv export. CatchTrail previews entries before import and uses stable fingerprints to prevent duplicates. You can also create and restore portable CatchTrail JSON backups with embedded photos.
PRIVATE JOURNAL, YOUR CONTROL
Your journal is stored in the app on your device. There is no CatchTrail account, social feed, or automatic journal upload. Backups are created only when you request them and remain under your control. CatchTrail never sends your catch notes, photos, measurements, or saved fishing coordinates to its advertising or purchase providers.
