About this app

Welcome
to our multilingual BÜCHERBRÜCKEN APP. It contains simple German children's book texts in words, pictures and sound and is designed to make it easier for children with a different mother tongue to learn German. It is child's play to use and can be downloaded free of charge on mobile phones (MacOs and Android).
We developed it from spring 2022. Under the impression of the many children who came to us from Ukraine, we initially focused on their languages (Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, English).

Our dream is to expand this small "children's library in your pocket" to include other languages and texts by different authors. We need sponsors and helpers for this! We also need writers, authors and publishers to give us free licences for this non-profit project.
We would like to continue to offer the app free of charge to primary school children and their families.
Most of the Ukrainian texts have been translated by a Ukrainian children's author. This way, Ukrainian families who did not bring books with them can read to their children in their mother tongue.

We are happy about your contribution, also about suggestions for improvement. We, that is the children's book author Ursel Scheffler, Hamburg and Martin Rehm with the developers of Minerva IT-Solutions in Munich.

Questions about age:
The texts are mainly picture book texts and texts for first-time readers published by well-known German and foreign publishers. Ideal for children to read on their own from the 2nd to the 4th school year. The picture book texts in particular can be read aloud to KITA children. As in the bookshop, the illustrations are a good guide for the selection. The traffic light points green-yellow-red (from easy to difficult) are only a non-binding hint for readers.
Tip: If the child wants to hear the story again, then you have chosen correctly!
