DigiClino is a professional-grade geological field clinometer app that transforms your smartphone into a precise dip, strike, and dip direction measurement tool — no physical instrument required. Built on the W3C DeviceOrientation API with tilt-compensated compass fusion, digiClino accurately measures the inclination and azimuth of any rock surface, outcrop, or geological plane simply by placing the back of your phone flat against it, in any orientation — portrait, landscape, or diagonal. The app delivers real-time readings in both decimal degrees and standard quadrant notation (e.g. N45°E / 32° / S45°W — N45°E), with a multi-sample median filter and heading spike gate that suppress magnetometer noise and sensor jitter for stable, reliable field data. A live stability confidence bar and colour-coded indicators tell you exactly when a reading is ready to capture. Readings are saved to an on-device log for immediate use in GIS platforms, stereonet software, or field notebooks. Additional features include a bubble level, compass rose with dip-direction arrow, a strike-and-dip plane diagram, quadrant notation at a glance, dark and light themes, and a built-in four-step animated onboarding tutorial covering compass calibration, correct phone placement, and the figure-8 calibration technique.
