About this app

Important Note: No Link to MTA

This does not directly link to your MetroCards. The MTA does not provide a way to link a physical card to their data so this is impossible at this time.

What this app does is allow you to easily keep track of your cards' balance(s) on your own so that you'll always know how much is left on your card and aren't caught at the turnstile with an insufficient fare.

Free vs Pro Version

The Free version allows you to keep track of only one MetroCard and contains ads. With the Pro version you get:
🗸 no more ads
🗸 ability to store and track multiple MetroCards
🗸 card expiry notifications: enable notifications for when your card will expire 30 days, 7 days, one day before, and/or the day of expiration
🗸 home screen widgets: reduce the balance of a MetroCard by a single fare with a simple click, without having to open the app

Love the app - very useful when you are using multiple mta services but don't use them enough to warrant an unlimited metro card. 🎉My only recommended improvement (sorry wearing my Scrum Master hat) would be an "add value" option that would replicate the add value screen at metrocard kiosks.🤷🏽‍♀️ but that could be for the pro version!

Not what I thought, I was looking for something that would tell me the balance on a card I have. I guess maybe if you use this app to buy and add money to a metrocard you could see it. Or maybe it's just a budgeting system. Idk.

Hi Eerie, thanks for your review! It's mentioned at the very top of the app description that that isn't what this app does. Unfortunately, the MTA doesn't make that a possibility as they don't allow anyone access to that data. If any app says that's what they do, they're lying. This app just makes it easier for you to keep track manually.

Initially I gave this app a low score review. After providing feedback they quickly updated the app to address my concerns. Which has led me to update my review. A bit more user control could be nice in case future changes by the MTA affects the apps usability, but this critique was acknowledged and was stated would be considered for future updates. Nonetheless, the developer was very responsive and helpful. So this deserved a better score.

Hi Rob, thanks for that! I didn't know about the fare increases and have just updated the app to reflect them. That's also a great recommendation to allow for manual changes. I'll look into building that into the next release.
