About this game

OPERAND PUZZLE - Math Game v2.0

This is version 2.0 of Operand Puzzle math game. Unlike the first version which had only one part and one task to discover operands under question marks, this version is made up of three puzzle types with different tasks played in two stages and with 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 puzzle pieces.

GAME FLOW DESCRIPTION

Sliding Tiles Puzzle

The first puzzle type is an ordinary sliding tiles puzzle with shuffled image pieces. However, in second stage of this puzzle type each image piece has a random numeral in red which becomes green when placed into its proper row and column. This serves as a hint for the task which comes in the next puzzle type.

Sliding Operand Puzzle

The task in the second puzzle type is like the first one to arrange shuffled puzzle pieces but not in accordance with the appearance of an image. This time there is no image; the pieces of the puzzle are the operand numerals which need to be arranged according to the results of the addition operation in each row and column. To facilitate a solution, apart from the puzzle with 2x2 pieces – which is trivial to solve –, two thirds of the pieces have a small numeral in green which indicates what number should be put at that particular place.

Question Marks Operand Puzzle

In this puzzle type there are no sliding pieces. Instead the puzzle is made up of pieces with question marks in place of which a correct operand needs to be put. The task is to calculate which number should come at what place of the puzzle, pick related numeral from the row of operands above the puzzle grid and place it on its proper piece of the puzzle. Again, to facilitate a solution, apart from the puzzle with 2x2 pieces – which is trivial to solve –, one third of the pieces have a small numeral in green which indicates what number should be at that particular place.
