A 10-second pause between you and your tempting apps.

You know which apps pull you in. TemptShield doesn't block them — it just makes the impulse wait ten seconds. That tiny bit of friction is often all it takes to close the app and get back to your life.

How it works

Flag the apps that tempt you — social media, video, games, anything.
When you open one, a full-screen pause appears with a 10-second countdown. "Close it" works instantly; "Open anyway" only unlocks when the timer runs out.
Every attempt is scored: tackled vs. opened anyway, today and all-time. Watching your tackled count grow is the point.
You always keep the final choice. TemptShield adds friction to impulsive moments — it never takes control away from you.

Build your streak

Every day you resist counts toward your Safe Day streak. Uninstalling resets it to zero — honestly. There's no cloud backup to sneak your old numbers back.

Optional partner lock

Want extra accountability? Let a trusted person set a PIN so the app's settings can't be quietly changed. The PIN is stored only as a cryptographic hash on your device — nobody, including us, can read it.

Optional content filtering

One tap takes you to Android's Private DNS setting to enable Cloudflare Family filtering, which blocks adult content network-wide. TemptShield shows a green shield while it's active and warns you if it's turned off. Your traffic goes through Android and Cloudflare — never through TemptShield.

Permissions, explained

Usage access — to notice when a flagged app comes to the foreground, so the pause can appear. Processed on-device, never recorded or transmitted.
Display over other apps — to draw the pause screen on top of the tempting app.
Both are granted by you in system settings, and the feature is inert without them.

TemptShield is for anyone trying to spend less time on autopilot: doomscrollers, habit-builders, people working on digital wellbeing or self-control. The impulse just has to wait ten seconds. You decide the rest.

What’s new

• Stay up to date: TemptShield now checks Google Play on launch and offers a one-tap update when a newer version is out — with a Skip option for non-critical releases.
• Protection you can trust: if a required permission (Usage access or Display over other apps) gets turned off, the app now clearly prompts you to turn it back on, so the pause never silently stops working.
