Cattle Breeders' Associations, established within the framework of the Animal Breeding Law No. 4631, are breeder organizations established within the framework of the Regulation on the Establishment and Services of Breeding Unions for Breeding Purposes. In order to achieve this aim, the Stud Book System is carried out on a provincial basis, and the parent and yield records, which will form the basis of pedigree in cattle, are followed. Record keeping activities that will contribute to the genealogy in Turkey started with projects carried out jointly with the governments of Italy and Germany. The Turkish Anafi-Dairy Cattle Development Project (ANAFI), supported by the Italian government, was carried out in 9 provinces (Aydın, Balıkesir, Burdur, Isparta, İzmir, Denizli, Manisa, Muğla and Uşak) between 1989 and 1994. The Cattle Breeding Information System Project (GTZ), which started in 1995 and carried out jointly with the German Government, was carried out in 7 provinces (Bursa, Edirne, Kırklareli, Konya, Sakarya, Samsun and Tekirdağ) and ended in 2000. The aim of both projects is to establish a registration system in Turkey and to ensure the establishment of unions to carry out this registration system. As a matter of fact, with these projects, breeders were directed to organize, and Cattle Breeders' Associations began to be established in 1995. The unions of 16 provinces that were established came together in 1998 and established their parent organization, the Turkey Cattle Breeders' Central Union. As of December 2012, the number of provincial unions that are members of the Central Union has reached 81. The National Breeding Program for cattle in Turkey is carried out by the Turkish Cattle Breeders' Central Union. Within the scope of this program, the Central Union cooperates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, General Directorate of Agricultural Production and Development, in 3 different projects. These; 1. Preliminary Stud Book Project 2. Stud Book Project 3.
