After researching the issue with my Pixel 7 pro and reading what Google's response was I was forced to seek 3rd party solution to a bug that I consider critical. This app seemed the best chance and I am very happy with it. Maybe the binary sensitivity is because of the kind of sensor used but if it is not and this app ever is able to fix that then I will add the last star. But it earns all of them if it's simply the sensor. It does what it says and Google should acquire them

NON-rooted Kyocera Duraforce Pro II. Proximity sensor was allowing the screen to flash on and off during phone calls even though it was right up against my head. Called AT&T and they couldn't even troubleshoot it; they just wanted to send a replacement. Long story short, this app fixed the problem lickety-split. I WILL say, however, that the instructions could be a little more obvious; but, if you take your time to read and comprehend what it wants you to do, it'll work first time. I think that falls onto the shoulders of the UI designer, not the developer. A little hand-holding wouldn't hurt :)

I'm running Pixel 2 XL with Android 9 Updated mid September. Only recently have I noticed the occasional "Screen goes black during calls" problem that was supposedly fixed with the Android 9 release (that's when mine started). With Sensor Lab installed, I'd noticed that the light and proximity sensors were not working at all. Installed and ran this App and it fixed immediately with the quick run and reboot :-) Thank you, Mobile Direction! Works perfectly!
