About this app

Learn the names and locations of the provinces and territories in Canada with this app that complements the geography materials used in the Montessori Classroom!

In Lesson #1 learn the names and locations of the states:

Touch a province in the filmstrip to change the featured province on the page. Touch the speaker button to hear the correct pronunciation of the province name and touch the compass button to see the province highlighted on the map! Touch the Definition button to read and hear a brief description of the Province. The map itself follows the same color scheme used for the physical materials in the Montessori classroom.

In Lessons 2, 3 & 4 assemble the Canada puzzle map with pieces that are exact replicas of the physical Montessori materials:

In the first puzzle map lesson children have to look for the province puzzle piece that is blinking on the map. They can choose to use a "touch only" method, in which the pieces automatically move into position, or they can choose a "drag & place" method, where each piece is placed into position manually by hand. In either case, when the piece snaps into position, the name of the province can be heard aloud.

In the second puzzle map lesson children have to look for the country puzzle piece that corresponds to the name shown at the top. For children who cannot read, the country name at the top can be touched to hear the name aloud for them to know which one to look for.

In the third puzzle map lesson children can freely drag and place the country pieces to the map in any order they choose.

Currently, our geography series of apps are being used by several schools in Canada. See why Schools and Parents trust Mobile Montessori apps!
