About this app
MobStaff turns a tablet or phone at your workplace into a time clock that still
works when the internet does not.
Staff enter a PIN, the camera takes a verification photo, and the record is
queued on the device and uploaded when there is a connection. Nothing on the
screen waits for a network reply, so a dropped line at 6am does not stop a shift
starting.
WHAT IT DOES
• PIN entry with a verification photo at clock-in, clock-out and breaks — each
one switchable by the employer
• Paid and unpaid breaks
• Today's roster on the screen: who is on shift, who is on a break, and for how
long
• A running clock that reads server time, not the device's
• Honest sync status: it tells you how many records are still waiting rather
than pretending they have been sent
• Kiosk mode on Android, so a wall-mounted tablet stays on the clock-in screen
• Works as a shared tablet at a door, as several tablets across a site, or as a
personal phone bound to one named worker
BUILT FOR THE AWKWARD PARTS
Time comes from the server. Every sync anchors server time against a counter
that ticks since the device booted and cannot be set by anyone, so moving the
tablet's clock forward to manufacture overtime does not move the recorded time.
The tampered clock travels with the record as evidence.
Records are queued locally in an encrypted database and uploaded later, so hours
without a connection cost nothing. A photo that fails to upload never blocks the
attendance record itself.
Location and workplace WiFi checks are optional, off by default, and read only
at the moment of a punch. There is no background location tracking of any kind,
and no face recognition: the photo is stored for a human to look at.
YOU NEED AN EMPLOYER ACCOUNT
MobStaff is sold to businesses. This app is the worker-facing half and has to be
paired to an employer's MobStaff account with a code from their management
panel. Without that code there is nothing to see.
Employers manage staff, sites, devices, roster, leave, attendance review and
hourly payroll in a browser at mobstaff.com.
