About this app

ModalFret brings guitar practice into painted rooms for chords, rhythm, technique, ear training and fretboard theory. Browse Foundations, Rhythm and Lead, open an exercise, or follow a practice plan built from your history. Use it alongside your teacher, online lessons or purchased courses: recreate exercises, licks and riffs in Composer, then practise at your own pace.

BEFORE YOU PRACTISE
The Stretches screen is required before entering practice. Start the five-minute routine, then follow the stretches or simply let the full timer finish with the screen open. Practice becomes available when the routine completes. This warm-up is required once every 24 hours.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• Tutorial videos: watch from small links on matching lesson and activity pages, or search the full library in Settings > Tutorials. Videos stream on demand and require sign-in and an internet connection.
• Guided learning: build chords step by step, practise Sus/Add chords with settings chosen by the lesson, and test your knowledge with the Chords of a Key exercise.
• Practice plans: use app plans or create and edit your own, see your calendar and scheduled exercises, and track your practice in the journal.
• Fretboard and theory: keys in context, chords in a key, progressions, chord shapes, a searchable chord library, capo shapes and alternate tunings.
• Technique rooms: bends, vibrato, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, sweep picking, barre preparation and the spider walk.
• Rhythm and fingerpicking: practise strumming and picking patterns, and save your own fingerpicking sequences.
• Tab Player: import supported tabs, loop sections and build speed with tempo-ramp controls.
• Composer: create songs and exercises with chord, technique, strum, fingerpicking and sweep-picking libraries. Add built-in or saved patterns to the basket and place them onto your tab.
• Tuner, looper and sampler: tune your instrument, practise with loops and work with your own sounds.
• Phone-friendly layouts, coordinated themes and guitar diagrams help keep practice controls readable.
