Your camera roll has thousands of photographs in it and you cannot find one you love. Contact Sheet is a camera that gives you thirty-six exposures, no preview, no deleting and no gallery, and develops the roll at eight the next morning.

LOAD A ROLL
Six film stocks, all of them free from the first day. Meridian 100 for honest daylight. Corner Store 400, warm and cheap and unreliable. Nightbus 1600 for the last train home. Gullwing B&W for silver. Riviera 50 for a coastline. Statik, expired, no promises. Turn any box over for its spec sheet: response curve, grain structure, halation and the quirks it owns up to. Choosing the stock before you choose the scene is the whole discipline.

SHOOT BLIND
The viewfinder carries a hint of the stock you loaded. After the shutter there is nothing: no thumbnail, no review, no way back. A counter goes down, and a wind-on ratchet takes 1.2 seconds before the next frame is ready, which changes how you shoot more than any setting could. Thirty-six, then the motor rewinds and the roll goes to the lab.

TOMORROW AT EIGHT
It comes back the next morning, developed. One batch a day. The counter shuts at eight in the evening, so a roll handed in after that waits for the next morning's batch, exactly like the shop that closed. You can move the hour two either way in Settings, and that is the only thing about the wait you can change.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LAB
Ask for a push or a pull as you hand the roll over: brighter and harder and grainier, or gentler with finer grain and highlights that hold on longer. You choose blind, before you have seen a single frame, which is the only way it was ever done.

DEVELOPMENT HAPPENS ON YOUR PHONE
A stock here is not a filter laid over the top. Each one is a response curve for every colour channel, a grain structure synthesised at your frame's own resolution and weighted to the midtones, a halation threshold that lets bright things bleed a red edge into the dark beside them, corner falloff, and quirks: Corner Store 400 fogs frames one and thirty-six from the cassette mouth and sends about one frame in ten back a stop under. All of it is computed here, on your device, over your own frames.

THE SHEET
Thirty-six frames in six strips, with frame numbers and sprocket chrome at the right pitch. Press and hold to bring a loupe over any frame and it glides under your thumb, reading the full frame, grain and all. Circle the ones worth keeping with a grease pencil. Save any frame at full size, or the whole sheet as one picture for the group chat. Nothing is ever deleted for you.

WHAT IS NOT HERE
No feed, no followers, no likes. No account and no sign-in. No subscription, no purchases, no ads. No shared rolls and no cloud, because there is no server at all: the app does not request the internet permission, so it cannot send your photographs anywhere even if it wanted to.
