Sentence asks you for one sentence about today. That is not the free tier. That is the whole app.

Sentence gives you a date, a hairline rule and a single line, and it is finished in about eleven seconds.
You cannot fall behind on a sentence.
THE CONSTRAINT
One line a day, up to 280 characters. Once the day closes at 3am, it cannot be edited. That rule is the
spine of the whole thing: what you thought on Tuesday stays what you thought on Tuesday, and a journal you
cannot retouch is the only kind worth rereading. A short correction window sands off the sharp edge for
typos, and you can fill in yesterday once, marked honestly as written late.
THE REWARD IS REREADING
Every morning Sentence hands you what you wrote on this date in earlier years. The notification is not a
nag to write. It is your own sentence, from a year ago, delivered back to you. Discreet notifications are
on by default, so the lock screen shows only that a memory is waiting, never the words.
FOUR SCREENS, NO MORE
Today. Write the line, then read the years underneath it.
Book. Your whole journal as a continuous typeset scroll under month headings, with search.
Years. One calendar date stacked across every year you have kept, the layout of the paper five-year diaries.
Calendar. Written days as printed paper, missed days as blank space.
NO STREAKS, NO SHAME
There are no flame counters and no broken chains. Unbroken runs are quietly numbered as chapters, and a
gap simply starts a new one, the way books do. Nobody grieves starting a chapter.
YOUR WORDS STAY ON YOUR PHONE
Sentence does not request the internet permission. It cannot upload your journal, because Android will not
let it open a network connection at all. No account, no sign-up, no cloud, no analytics, no advertising ID,
no crash reporter. Export the whole book as plain text, CSV or JSON whenever you like, and import it back.
TYPOGRAPHY IS THE ONLY DECORATION
Cream and ink, real italics, oldstyle figures, three typographic sets to choose from, and a light and dark
mode that both look like paper.
Free, complete, and not a subscription. A product about permanence should not bill you monthly.
