About this app

M.P.C (monograph panel controller) turns your home screen into the control
surface of a piece of music gear - a sampler, a mixer, a MIDI controller.

PADS = APPS
Tap to launch. Pull a pad down to launch a second app, with a rubber-band
stretch as you drag. A pad lights up orange when that app has a notification.

KNOBS = FOLDERS
Tap and a popover opens right above the knob. The knobs really turn, and they
spin with inertia when you flip between pages.

FADERS = SLIDERS
VOL (real media volume), BRT (screen brightness) and APP (a spring-loaded
fader that rests in the middle - throw it to either end to launch an app and it
snaps back). Tap VOL to mute, tap BRT to toggle auto-brightness.

INSTRUMENT MODULES
Weather - a 13-segment temperature ladder with an engraved condition mark.
The lit tip is colour-coded by range, so you read the temperature at a glance.
Pick a city; no location permission is ever requested.
Steps - your progress toward a daily goal (8,000 by default) on the same
ladder. It turns yellow the moment you hit the goal.
Both resize from a single cell to a tall column, and the ladder stretches to fit.

A DOT-MATRIX CALENDAR
Today is the orange dot. Tap to open your calendar, and assign any action -
notification shade, quick settings, an app - to each swipe direction.

A BOARD YOU ARRANGE YOURSELF
Every pad, fader, clock, calendar and instrument is a module on a cell grid.
Long-press to enter edit mode, then drag to move, swap and span pages.
Export your layout to a file and import it back - handy for a new phone.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE USE
M.P.C uses Android's accessibility service (AccessibilityService API) to open
the notification shade and quick settings from the home screen. It runs only
when you assign "open notifications" or "open quick settings" to a swipe or a
pad. Turning it on is optional: the app explains what it is for and you enable
it yourself, and you can turn it off at any time. M.P.C does not request
permission to read screen content, and nothing about your activity is
collected, recorded or sent anywhere.
