About this app

Oblique Strategies (subtitled Over One Hundred Worthwhile Dilemmas) was a deck of 7-by-9-centimetre (2.8 in × 3.5 in) printed cards, created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt and first published in 1975. Each card offers a challenging constraint intended to help artists break creative blocks by encouraging lateral thinking.

This is the best Oblique Strategies app in the market.
- True to the original design
- No ads
- Works offline

We have developed this app with the maximum attention to detail and respect for the original design, including the typography used in the 1975 edition.

We are keeping the app ad-free and hoping to help artists and designers in their creative endeavours.

The app is great! While I know the app shuffles the deck each time you re-open it, it would also be cool if there was a shuffle feature or button you can click once you open the app. That way, if you're feeling indecisive, you can try again at random versus only swiping through to the next card.

Excellent translation of the cards into an app, using the original font and format - nice touch! I like that you can go back to the immediately previous card, but only that. Next swipe brings up a new card, to keep it random. Some of the bad reviews miss the point. The app isn't "flashy," because the goal is to spur inspiration and creativity directly, internally, by engaging your brain. Not everything needs to be a crush game! A fine tribute to a genius concept. Thanks so much for this app!

Years ago a calligrapher friend made me a copy of the cards as a gift. I've used that set more or less daily for the 30+ years since then. Now, I'm about to start dividing my time between multiple homes, and I wondered if I should divide the deck. But different strategies for different places didn't seem right. This app solved the problem simply and elegantly. Thank you.
