Bbong is a versatile and convenient Finnish-language application for storing, browsing and sharing nature observations.
When moving around in nature, whether you’re on a forest trip or at sea, a cell phone is a more convenient way to record and review your own nature observations than a guidebook, pen, and notebook. You can save your findings and view or edit them later. You will also share the findings conveniently with others who are interested.
Bbong also helps to learn more about nature. Quickly click yourself to audio libraries, Wikipedia, or other online resources.
What can you do with a bbong?
• Save different nature observations by category. The app has its own categories for birds, butterflies, mammals, plants, and a category you define yourself. You can save the location, time and personal notes for the observation. Also attach pictures, videos, and audio samples to the observation.
• View observations in different views: in map view, by species, by observations.
• Check your findings and learn more: the app has an interface to Wikipedia, online images and audio libraries
• Share content with others, for example via email or social media channels, in image or text format. There are several distribution options. With text sharing, you can even copy all the data in an application.
• Follow trends. You can see different statistical views of your observations, such as over several years, months, or weeks. In what month did the Swallows come last year? What about the finch?
Bbong functionalities
• Findings can be backed up and restored. With backups, you can use the bbong from multiple devices.
• The app keeps track of sightings and species with simple counters that you can track.
• The application does not store any user information other than the user's device and the user's own google drive directory. The Google Drive directory is used to store images, videos, audio samples and backups - if the user so wishes. The application can also be used to make basic observations without saving attachments.
• The application has an interface to the user manual and feedback form.
