About this app

Bbong is a versatile and convenient Finnish-language application for recording, browsing and sharing nature observations.

When you are out in nature, whether you are on a forest trip or at sea, a mobile phone is a more convenient way to record and check your own nature observations than a guidebook, pen and notebook. You can save your observations and view or edit them later. You can also conveniently share your observations with other interested parties.

Bbong also helps you learn more about nature. You can quickly click yourself to audio libraries, Wikipedia or other information sources online.

What can you do with bbong?
• Save different nature observations by category. The application has its own categories for birds, butterflies, mammals, plants and a category you define yourself. You can save the location, time and your own notes to the observation. You can also attach images, videos and sound samples to the observation.
• View observations in different views: in map view, by species, by observations.
• Check your observations and learn more: the application has a connection to Wikipedia, online images and audio libraries
• Share content with others, for example, by email or on social media channels as an image or text. There are several different sharing options. With text sharing, you can even copy all the information in the application.
• Follow trends. You can see different statistical views of observations, such as several years, months or weeks. In which month did swallows arrive last year? What about chaffinches?

About Bbong functionalities
• You can make and restore backups of observations. Backups allow you to use bbong from multiple devices.
• The application keeps track of observations and species with simple counters that you can follow.
• The application does not store any user information anywhere other than on the user's device and in the user's own Google Drive directory. The Google Drive directory is used to store images, videos, audio samples and backups – if the user so wishes. You can also use the application without saving attachments to make basic observations.
• The application has a connection to the user manual and feedback form.
