About this app

MoviePass is the nation's premier theatrical subscription service, allowing you to see movies in over 4000 theaters across the United States for one low subscription fee.

How It Works:
-Sign up for MoviePass to receive your MoviePass card. Download the MoviePass app while waiting for your card to arrive.

-Once you receive your card in the mail, use the app to search for theaters, movies and showtimes.

-Go to the theater and check into your selected showtime using the app.

-Once you have checked in your card will be activated; swipe your MoviePass card with a ticket agent or at a kiosk to get your ticket!

-For theaters that accept e-ticketing via MoviePass, reserve your same-day ticket and seat (when applicable) ahead of time from any location. No need to use your card, just present the e-ticket confirmation code at the theater's box office to get your ticket.

Using credits at the theater is next to impossible unless you pay the premium for online booking beforehand. The process is not good. I did get some extra credits due to an issue when contacting support but the fact remains that this new card-less process has flaws. They also don't let you use your existing credits after canceling (unless you do it by the end of your billing cycle) so I paid for a few months of credits and ended up losing nearly all of them. This is not a pleasant experience.

They've introduced surge pricing on the credits you pay for a movie depending on how busy it is which I'm not necessarily against but I am firmly against how they implemented it. Your movie costs X credits and then you go to purchase the ticket and your card gets declined. The app now informs you that the price has changed AFTER you purchased the ticket and it's now X+2 credits. And now you're holding up the ticket line while you mess with the app and the declined sale. Needs fixing.

I had given a 4 star review initially. I was paying $15/month for 34 points. That would cover 3 to 4 movies (matinees during the week were as low as 9 points). Now, movies are over 20 points for the same days/times. According to the app, they offer a $10/month option. Great, right? No- it's not available in GA, even though that price is on the app and website when I enter my address. Customer Service said they would change it back to $15 after signing up at the lower rate. Bait and switch!
