About this app

The KidzSearch App is made by the same company that runs KidzSearch.com, which is a popular safe search tool used and trusted by many private and public schools, as well as parents at home. KidzSearch results are always Strict Filtered. A highly requested feature of this App is that kids cannot directly type in a potentially unsafe website, since it runs on mobile devices without requiring a website browser. KidzSearch provides safe web and safe image searching.

In addition to safe searching, the KidzSearch App provides many other features students really enjoy using, such as finding safe online games, kid-friendly online music stations, teacher selected learning videos, a moderated Q&A forum called KidzTalk, a safe student encyclopedia, student news, top websites for kids, cool facts, and much more.

KidzSearch has been rated as a Top 25 Learning Website for Educational Quality by Common Sense Media.

This isn't a safe browser only an attempt at a safe search engine. Infuriating and inconsistent. Cannot put in a web address directly and a search for the address doesn't always yield the page. Eg. Wikipedia (But searching harry potter yield Wikipedia page on Harry potter.) Once out of the initial start page I could easily click any link and use any embedded search I wanted, found a way to pornhub in a few minutes.

We now use an improved database filter with millions of blocked sites that gets frequently updated. The most current version (1.21) lets you block any website you want, such as wikipedia.org or keywords.

Why on earth does it need to have read permissions of the phone?! If I can use Firefox & Opera why would your browser be special and need those perms? It is also looking for the WiFi info and everyone on the network. That isn't a normal permission. BTW if I deny you wanting to look at my SD card it refuses to let me use the app. Something not right here considering it is got kids.

The KidzSearch app provides a history of links visited to help parents and teachers monitor access. It is an important safety feature. This requires being able to read/write to your device. It is a very common permission setting used by apps that store data. Since it is a browser, WiFi access is also needed.

I tested out this app with a view to letting my child use it, it took me less that 5 minutes to get to a major porn search engine to view all the porn available on there, and also a site that has graphic death videos. Not good.
