About this app

The Istibsar app provides users with the full text of the book "Istibsar fi ma Ikhtilaf min al-Akhbar," one of the four fundamental books of the Imami Shi'a, authored by the Sheikh of the Sect, Sheikh Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Tusi (may God sanctify his secret).

This book is considered one of the most prominent hadith and jurisprudential references. In it, Sheikh al-Tusi compiled various and seemingly contradictory narrations, then explained the methods of reconciling them and preferring the correct ones according to Sharia principles. Thus, Istibsar has become a primary reference for jurisprudents in resolving conflicts between narrations and deriving Sharia rulings.

The app provides this great work in its entirety, with all its chapters and sections, featuring an easy-to-use and elegant interface, precise indexing, and an internal search engine that enables you to quickly access any chapter or hadith you need.

📖 About the Book of Istibsar
Istibsar is the fourth of the four books recognized by the Imami Shi'a, along with:

1. Al-Kafi (Sheikh Al-Kulayni)

2. Man La Yahduruhu Al-Faqih (Sheikh Al-Saduq)

3. Tahdhib Al-Ahkam (Sheikh Al-Tusi)

4. Istibsar (Sheikh Al-Tusi)

Sheikh Al-Tusi composed Istibsar to complement his book Tahdhib Al-Ahkam. While Tahdhib compiled a collection of narrations with explanations and clarifications, Al-Istibsar focused on the different and conflicting narrations, presenting and discussing them, then explaining how to reconcile them or preferring one over the other.

The book contains approximately 5,500 narrations distributed across chapters on jurisprudence, such as:

The Book of Purification: The rulings on ablution, ritual bathing, and dry ablution.

The Book of Prayer: Its times, obligatory and voluntary prayers, and issues of defects.

The Book of Fasting: The month of Ramadan, expiations, and recommended acts.

The Book of Zakat and Khums.

The Book of Hajj and its Rituals.

The Book of Marriage and Divorce.

The Book of Punishments and Blood Money.

Various chapters on transactions, judiciary, and testimonies.

Thus, Al-Istibsar has become an encyclopedia specializing in addressing different and conflicting narrations, making it an important reference for students of knowledge, jurists, and researchers.
