Measuring a room, levelling a picture frame, checking how loud the neighbours are, reading tiny print. Installing a separate app for each fills your home screen fast — Life Toolkit puts 19 of them in one place.
■ MEASURE
· Noise check — Live decibels alongside the one-minute equivalent level (Leq), compared against daytime and night-time limits that switch by the hour. Record video as evidence, export the numbers as CSV.
· Room size — Tap the corners of the floor to get the area in square metres. Save a top-down floor plan as an image, with furniture marked as rectangles.
· Length & height / Distance — Measure an object's length, a person's height, or width-depth-height with the camera.
· Compass · Spirit level · Metal & nail finder — Together, hanging a shelf becomes one job instead of three.
■ EVERYDAY
· Step counter — Steps, distance and calories in a ring gauge. Keeps counting with the app closed, and folds in steps from your watch via Health Connect.
· Timer & stopwatch — Built on the alarm clock API, so it rings on time with the screen off. The stopwatch records laps.
· Flashlight — Torch, plus a live light meter in lux.
· Magnifier and text reader — Zooming in only helps until your hands shake. Take one photo, pull the text out, read it at any size — or have it read aloud. Made for medicine leaflets, contract small print, ingredient lists.
· Mirror — Front camera with zoom and a left-right flip.
· Where did I put it — Note where something is with a photo, then find it by name or place.
· QR & barcode — Scan, open or copy.
■ CALCULATE
· Calculator — Type whole expressions with brackets and proper operator precedence. A scientific keypad (trigonometry, logarithms, powers, factorials) folds out, and past results can be tapped to reuse.
· Unit converter — Length, weight and temperature, plus traditional Korean units.
· Date calculator — Age, D-day and anniversaries, adding and subtracting dates. Pin the one that matters to a home screen widget.
■ RECORDS
· Saved data · Statistics — As step and noise records build up, they turn into weekly graphs and summaries. Steps are available as a home screen widget too.
■ WHAT YOU MEASURE STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
There is no account and nothing to sign in to. Readings, photos and videos stay on this phone and are never uploaded. There are no ads.
The app uses the internet in exactly two places, and both bring something in rather than send anything out: checking the store for a new version, and downloading the text-recognition pack the first time you use the text reader. After that it works offline. Neither carries any of your data.
Everything saved can be erased in one go from Settings → Privacy, and noise videos and step history exported as files.
■ ON ANY DEVICE
· Phones, tablets and foldables, in portrait or landscape.
· Light and dark themes, following your phone's setting.
· Available in English and Korean.
· For people who cannot easily look at the screen, TalkBack announces the noise level, compass bearing, when a surface is level, and when the step goal is reached — speaking when something changes that is worth hearing, not reciting numbers.
· Text stays readable when you have your font size turned up.
■ WORTH KNOWING FIRST
· All readings are for reference. A phone's sensors are not professional instruments, and a noise recording may not hold up as legal evidence.
· The metal and nail finder detects iron only — not wooden studs, PVC pipe, copper wiring or aluminium. Always confirm another way before drilling into a wall.
· Camera-based measuring (room size, length, height, distance) needs a device that supports ARCore.
· The compass, spirit level and metal finder need the matching sensor in your device.
· Camera, microphone and physical activity permissions are asked for only when a feature needs them; turning one down leaves everything else working.
