Facets measures you once per social role, then shows you the gap.

■ Six roles, measured separately
On your own, when nobody needs anything from you. With your partner. At work, as the colleague your team actually gets. As someone's kid, back at your parents' table. As a parent, or the parent you believe you would be. With your friends.

■ How it works
Pick a role. Answer 28 statements from 0 to 5. The order is shuffled every time and mixed across the four dimensions, so no stretch of questions is all about the same thing.

■ A result written for that role
Every one of the sixteen types has its own reading for every role: how it shows up there, what works, where it catches, and one concrete thing to try. Ninety-six readings in total, written for this app.

■ The comparison is the point
Measure two roles and the app names the pair that came out furthest apart, then shows you dimension by dimension where you move and where you hold steady. Decisive and outward on your own, careful and inward with the person you love, is not an inconsistency to fix. It is worth knowing.

■ Your answers stay on your phone
