The new version is better, but it still gets confused. I use VPNs always and I think it causes an issue for this app. Over time it forgets (expired or bad token in bg?), and once it does, you cannot access your online subscription or other functions. I have to reinstall it, very annoying. Still waited for a real fix and better QA with this app. 11/29 - Still broken, no digital magazine access.

I like Scientific American content but the android implementation leaves a lot to be desired. After several years of development the application still lacks a basic functionality of remembering a reading position. The latest update did not improve things but instead made navigation a bit more complicated and broke offline functionality. The app downloads the text of the articles but all of the graphics is missing in the offline mode.

The content is great and easy to read. However, the app keeps forgetting me and tells me I don't have a current subscription and some of the previous issues I've downloaded now cost me $6.99. This happens about every couple of months. SA has helped but the only cure I've been given is to log out and then log in again. Of course most of my downloads are lost so I have to reload them all again. SA knows but has not fixed the problem.
