Meet Navigo, the offline first campus transit app designed especially for Wits University students. You can plan your shuttle journeys from door to door, check nearby departures, and get helpful reminders before your bus leaves. Best of all, everything is computed directly on your phone. This means it works perfectly even if you are stuck in a basement lecture hall with zero signal. You will never have to miss the campus bus again.
What You Can Do
- On device journey planning: Find your route across every campus shuttle and rank your options by the fastest trip, the one with less walking, or the one with fewer transfers. Since the whole network solves in under a millisecond right on your device, there are no routing servers or waiting times.
- A truly offline experience: Timetables, routes, and map shapes live directly on your phone. This means your planning, nearby departure info, and reminders will all keep working perfectly without any internet connection.
- Smart bus reminders: You can choose exactly how many minutes before departure you want a nudge. These reminders adjust to your timezone, survive phone reboots, and automatically clear themselves once your bus has left.
- Departures near you: If you are in a rush, just open the app to snap to your nearest stop. You will see exactly what is leaving next, sorted by how long it takes to walk there.
- Live service alerts: Whenever there are delays or disruptions, you will receive live service alerts through push notifications and clear colour coded banners.
- Routes that follow the road: When you tap any option, it isolates the route on your map. Your bus rides trace the real streets while your walking paths are marked with dashed lines, complete with a full timeline of stops.
- Campus lost and found: If you lose your student card or earphones, you can post about it with a photo or browse items other students have found, all right inside the app.
- Security at one tap: For peace of mind, you can contact campus security with a single tap straight from your dashboard, day or night.
How It Works
1) Sign in using your student number and confirm the one time code sent to your Wits student email address. There are no extra passwords to remember.
2) Tell Navigo where you are headed. You can choose whether you are leaving now, leaving at a specific time, or needing to arrive by a certain hour.
3) Simply compare your options. Tap on any route to see it drawn out on the map with a full timeline of stops, and set a reminder for when you need to leave.
4) Catch your bus stress free, knowing the app keeps working even without a signal.
