About this app

【What is iotect-gateway?】
iotect-gateway is a business-oriented application for using Android devices as "fixed-installation BLE gateways." It detects BLE devices, iBeacons, and compatible devices near the installation location and transmits this information to our cloud (iotect), supporting occupancy tracking and monitoring operations in facilities and rooms.

*This application requires initial setup (kitting) using a pre-issued setup code (QR code or manual entry) and connection to our backend. It is not an application for general customers to use independently; it is intended for businesses and installation personnel with existing implementation contracts.

【Main Functions】
• Detection of nearby BLE/iBeacon and identification of target beacons
• Detection of compatible monitoring devices (watches, etc.) and notification of their status
• Automatic transmission of detection data (unsent data is retained on the device and automatically resent after communication is restored)
• Remote monitoring of device operating status, battery, network, etc.
• Always-on design that continues to operate even when the screen is off and in the background
• Automatically resumes operation after the device restarts

【Operation Overview】
1. Agree to the explanation regarding data acquisition and transmission upon initial startup
2. Register this device as a gateway using the setup code
3. Periodically scan for nearby target devices and send detection information to the server

【Required Permissions】
To perform constant BLE scanning as a fixed gateway, the following is used:
• Location information ("Always Allow")… Required for background BLE scanning due to Android specifications. The device's GPS location (latitude and longitude) is not acquired. * Nearby devices (Bluetooth)… For BLE scanning
* Notifications… To constantly display that the device is operational
* Battery optimization exclusion… To maintain continuous operation
