This is a review of the phone app, not of the library which is absolutely fantastic. The app does not work correctly. It will not advance to the next track when the lockscreen turns on, which is essentially all the time. So it stops playing every 2nd or 3rd track. It also sometimes stops in the middle of tracks for me. Finally, less critically, it lacks a "currently playing" playlist which means one needs to create a new playlist to play say two albums one after another.

The selection is incredible, but this is a review of the app, which is, frankly, not very good, and which seems to be rarely updated or improved. Recently the player stopped progressing to the next track when the phone screen is off, and there is not infrequent glitching in the playback. These make it mostly unusable unless I am really determined to listen to something and actively keep my phone awake or manually progress to the next track. Otherwise I'll just turn elsewhere most of the time.

The library of music available on this app is immense and the playlist system is excellent for helping me to keep track of my favorite pieces. The UI is beautiful and (mostly) easy to navigate. Sure, we'd all like to see better support for things like typo correction, but honestly that is not important in light of some more serious issues. Namely, the app is quite unstable. Most recently, the problem is that the app will not proceed to the next track in an album if my phone is asleep. If I don't remember to wake up my phone, the app will freeze and I will need to play a different track entirely in order to use it again. Other issues include the fact that the music doesn't automatically pause when I disconnect my headphones, which can lead to a brief moment of blaring music in a public space if I forget to hit the pause button myself before putting my headphones away. Infrequently, but often enough to be really annoying, the pause button spontaneously "unpauses" itself, leading to music blaring at an inopportune moment. There's a lot of potential with this app, but Naxos really needs to hire better software developers in order to remove the bugs that keep it from getting there.
