About this app

My story - I'm hard of hearing. I'm a big fan of LiveTranscribe (which is great), but I needed a little more out of my software. That's why I developed Transcriboar - for me. And since it worked so well, I figured I may as well share it with you.

About Transcriboar - Transcriboar is a free app that takes the same reliable, high quality technology already on your Android phone (as developed by Google) called "SpeechRecognizer". Since it uses the software already on your phone, it doesn't need to connect to the internet* or use costly AI subscription services. Transcriboar uses this to translate your voice to text. From there, I than extended that functionality, rather than reinventing the wheel.

So - there's lots of enhancements. These transcripts can be saved, renamed, edited, printed and/or saved. Or even distributed via e-mail or other media. It does all this without connecting to the internet* or using costly AI.

Perfect for getting down shopping lists. Authors and engineers who want to jot down that idea. And anyone who enjoys dictation on the go.

saw your reddit post. tried it out. works pretty well! some settings for which device it uses for the mic (I have watch, HAs, and phone for example) would be nice. also would be good if it didn't refresh/restart so quickly after "not detecting speech". it seems like if there's any kind of lull in conversation or if I turn it on in anticipation of needing it, it panics a bit and even stops itself.

Thank you for making the transcripts more functional. It's great to save, organise and print individual transcriptions.

Buttons: To save latest transcription, use the "Stop" button. To rename a file, use the floppy button. Problems when editing: 1. The "Discard" button discards the changes, not the file. 2. If you discard changes, the "Save Changes" button goes away, while text stays editable but un-saveable. 3. When you tap the text to display the keyboard, the text won't scroll down any further. 4. If, when keyboard is displayed, you scroll up and tap text, then the text won't scroll down any further than that.

✓Added "Keep Screen On" Setting: You can now enable a new option to prevent your phone from sleeping during a long transcription. Be aware that this will increase battery usage, so it's off by default.

✓Improved Accuracy for Long Messages: Adding the feature above helped me discover a bug where long speech could result in incomplete text. That issue is fixed, making the app better for capturing those longer shower thoughts.
