This program's data is sourced from the *Cantonese Pronunciation and Word Matching Database* (http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/Lexis/lexi-can/) webpage developed by the Centre for Computing and Humanities at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This webpage was originally very convenient and information-rich, compiled with reference to various documents.

Unfortunately, it's somewhat inconvenient to use on mobile devices, so this small program was developed for simple Cantonese pronunciation lookup.

Personally, the *Cantonese Pronunciation and Word Matching Database* is simply a tool for finding the pronunciation of unfamiliar characters, or for leisure and knowledge enhancement; it's not intended to promote a so-called "correct pronunciation" lifestyle.

The *Multifunctional Chinese Character Database* webpage launched by the Centre for Computing and Humanities at the Chinese University of Hong Kong now supports a mobile version, is very user-friendly, and offers a wealth of diverse information. I highly recommend using the web version directly.

Ratings and reviews

The last version was fine. After I updated the app, I can't see the Chinese character I just typed. It is actually there because if I tried to select it in the box fir searching, I can see it being high-lighted. Searching function works fine but on the result page, I can't see the buttons for different init/tone. When I tapp the box where the button is supposed to be, again, it works. So, I believe there's some problems displaying the character in the search box and the buttons.

The app is good but the pronunciation has not been working for many months after an update. The sound appears to be crackling and screaming at you. Please fix. Thanks in advance.

The old version is better. Now the new one doesn't show the chinese characters in the SAME INIT & FIN, SAME FIN & TONE for reference. That is why I gave a 2-star rating to this upgraded version. Developerd please put back those functions in the app.

What’s new

1. 增加刪除查詢紀錄、停止紀錄的功能
2. 好像很多人超愛舊版面，所以依舊截圖重建一次看看，但功能和能查詢的字有所限制，Dark Mode 有一點點問題有待解決（其實字的廣度不差很多，而且舊版因資料少真的比較快，能理解對舊版有需求的人）
3. 增加了暫存快取，來回翻找同一資料頁的情況下作業不須再上網抓一次資料（應該不會有人一直用上過千筆搜索罷....）
