About this app

Flutster turns any deck of music cards into a fast, social guessing game. Scan a card's QR code, the hidden song plays, everyone guesses the year, and the first player to build a correct timeline wins. The answer stays hidden in the app, just like the back of a physical card.

Try it right away: Flutster needs no account of any kind. Out of the box, scanned cards play a 30 second preview clip. Connect your own Spotify for full songs whenever you want.

How it works:
1. Build a deck from any Spotify playlist at the free card maker: https://nicsilver.github.io/flutster/ (no account needed there either)
2. Print the double-sided cards: QR codes on the front, year, artist and title on the back, laid out for A4 printing.
3. Scan with Flutster, guess the year, place the card on your timeline.

Party controls included:
- A big GUESS button to stop the music and pass the phone on
- Fast-forward and rewind in 15 second jumps (Spotify playback)
- Optional "start 30 seconds in" to skip quiet intros
- Restart the track instantly
- Save songs you liked to a private Spotify playlist with one tap

Optional Spotify mode:
For full songs, Flutster uses your own free Spotify developer app and your Spotify Premium account. Onboarding walks you through the setup step by step. Note: Spotify has temporarily paused creating new developer apps; until they reopen, preview playback works for everyone regardless.

This "bring your own credentials" design is deliberate: Flutster never sees your Spotify login, never collects your data, and keeps you fully in control of your own account.

Privacy: no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no data collection. Everything Flutster stores stays on your device.

Flutster is an independent, non-commercial, open-source project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Spotify, Apple, or any card-game publisher.

What’s new

New: Preview mode. Play without any Spotify account: scan a card and a 30 second preview clip plays instantly. No setup, no Premium, nothing to configure. Skip onboarding to try it, or flip it on anytime in Settings > Playback.
Also: clearer onboarding, a playback mode switch, and polish throughout.
Spotify mode (full songs through your own Spotify) works exactly as before.
