About this app

NightChapter is a local player for audiobooks from your own collection. Select a folder with files, and the app will organize books into a convenient library, recognizing chapters, metadata, covers, and CUE markup.

Listen wherever you want.

• Playback without a constant internet connection;

• Background playback when the app is minimized and the screen is off;

Tools for long stories

• Playback speed from 0.5x to 3x;
• Jump between book chapters and CUE chapters;
• Bookmarks with optional notes;
• Sleep timer for a set amount of time or until the end of a chapter;
• Smooth audio fading before stopping;
• Smart rewinding after a long pause, helping you recall context;
• Additional amplification for silent recordings.

A library under your control

NightChapter combines audio files from one folder into a book, displays covers and metadata, allows you to search for books, add them to favorites, mark them as completed, and hide them without deleting the original files. You can set a custom title for a book and choose a different cover.

Local use without an account

The app does not require registration, advertising, or external analytics. Audiobooks are not uploaded to the NightChapter server: the app only works with the folder selected by the user through the Android system interface. Progress, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on the device.

Supported formats

MP3, M4A, M4B, OGG, FLAC, and Opus. Playability of a specific file depends on its codec and device support.

Important

NightChapter does not contain built-in audiobooks and does not provide a catalog for purchasing or downloading content. The app is designed for files that the user already owns and to which they have legal access.
