About this app

NJM SafeDrive Go is a voluntary program that encourages safer driving and offers a discount on your car insurance, if you choose to participate. A smartphone app is used to measure driving behaviors and provide feedback to you and information to NJM regarding your acceleration, braking, cornering, distracted driving, and speed. The app measures the following data points:

* Acceleration — sharp increases in speed
* Braking — hard braking occurrences
* Cornering — the angle and speed of a turn
* Distracted Driving — handling or interaction with the smartphone while the vehicle is in operation
* Speed — measured and compared to the posted speed limit

Ratings and reviews

The telematics from the app were used to increase my rates significantly (Up $649 annual) despite being told my rates would not increase from participating, thus nullifying the discount, reinforcing the idea of my data being used against me, and forcing me to increase my deductibles to reduce the rate. This terminated my trust in this so-called 'discount' program. App also uses a lot of energy. Will be removing myself from the program, deleting the app, and reassessing my on-going insurance.

this app always has issues. it never records my trips and I constantly receive notifications about permissions needed. when I give these permissions, app still never record trips. it has never worked since I installed it. NJM swears they don't increase your insurance due to info from this app. Since installing and signing up for this apps discount. my insurance has gone up by $100. seems like a gimmick if you ask me.

unrealistic acceleration and braking req for real world, records "trips" while im sitting in my apartment, completely misses entire trips (1+ hrs), splits a single trip into multiple, doesn't have updated road speed limits, its a really annoying app, i stopped trying to correct via email, not worth the money it saves.
