Best Android backgammon I have been disappointed with mobile backgammon until now. This game plays as smart as GNU backgammon. It is a real challenge. To those that think the game cheats - it doesn't need to. It already plays better than humans. At the expert level it doesn't make mistakes, I certainly can't say that. If you want to feel smarter than a computer play some other backgammon game and reject every double - you will win the long game. If you want to become a better player, then you are in the right place.
After playing for over 4 years, and after trying other backgammon apps, I feel pretty confident that this is the best. Yes there are times playing against the computer that you can tell that it is not going to let you win. Yes the rolls are random & prerolled but this is no guarantee of fairness. The game should alternate first player to be more fair.
Excellent backgammon, well worth the money I've been playing the AI Factory Backgammon game for a couple of years and beating the pants off it. I play GnuBg on my desktop and love it b/c it can play at a high level, and it provides hints to help me improve my game. Backgammon NJ plays at a similar level to GnuBg and has easy, med, hard and expert levels. This game gives no sign that it cheats with dice rolls. As Dashiel Hammett once wrote "The outcome of successful planning always looks like luck to saps."
Best BG app Tremendously good app. The interface and the playing options (levels of skill) are superb. The analysis you get in the app is great, I also recommend the in-app purchase package which gives more depth. I don't use online play often, it is not the strength of NJ I don't think. And ignore those who claim the dice are rigged: the Expert level is fiendishly good and backgammon is a cruel game.
Great app with good features and excellent skills. Seems there is no perfect random generator as after 8000 throws each my dice stats fit or are under the expected but the computer triples my count for 4 doubles sequentially, scores higher on any sequential doubles and its entry from the bar is 2% higher for most boards and 8% higher than expected for 4 point boards.
Game improver of note You can only improve your game with this app. I particularly like the glowing hint and I pay a lot of attention to the 97 moves. Sometimes I cannot figure out a specific suggested move, but then I don't have the ability to do the analysis to the extent that AI can. One day I will play complete game without the glowing hint! Congrats to Jimmy and well done to fend off the critisisms.
