I have long wondered what the algorithm uses to vary the skill level. I don't know. But I have noticed, statistically, that around the time I start bearing off, something funny happens. My probability of rolling 1-2 or 1-1 goes to near 100%. Meanwhile, the computer's probability of rolling 1-2 or 1-1 plunges, as far as I can calculate (after hundreds of games). In addition, probabilities of rolling doubles seem to become inverse: higher for computer, lower for player.

I love the analysis and I do feel like using this app has made me a stronger player. I am not completely convinced, however, that the AI doesn't receive more advantageous rolls. If the AI hits you and leaves a blot in his home board you lose turns until you're completely closed out. Reverse the positions and the AI gets off the bar immediately, usually hitting your blot. The app would be so much better with fair dice.

I love this app. It has moved to #1 favorite backgammon app since XG Mobile is no longer supported on Android. My favorite feature of the premium version is the ability to export a match file and import it into eXtremeGammon desktop (uses the backgammon studios .mat format). According to xg world class analysis, the engine plays around a 4 PR in expert mode.
