I built this because no one should have to dive alone.
I am a ERDI Level 2 (Emergency Response Diver), with a background in Police and Public Safety diving.
In that world, the "team" is everything. You never enter the water without a specific plan, support, and backup. It is the ultimate buddy system. But in the recreational world, I saw a huge problem: Divers were quitting the sport simply because they didn't have a reliable buddy, didn't know the local sites, or simply lost touch with the community.
I realized we didn't just need another logbook; we needed a Digital World for Divers.
I am building the ultimate resource for our sport. My goal is to create a living "Library" of worldwide dive sites—not just coordinates, but the real local knowledge.
Beyond the data, I want to build the connection. I envision a platform where you can post open or closed dive invites, find ride-shares to the site, split boat fuel, or even share gear. I want this app to provide everything a diver needs to get in the water.
But it doesn't stop at the surface. Once you are in the water, the dive site profile will eventually house photos, detailed descriptions, "must-see" landmarks for that specific dive, and wildlife guides so you know exactly what to expect.
By using DiveBook, you are inadvertently helping the ocean.
1% for the Planet: We are committed to directing 1% of all revenue to carbon offset initiatives.
Citizen Science: The data we collect on ocean conditions is valuable. We aim to use anonymized log data to help track climate change trends, turning every dive you log into a data point for ocean health.
What is available in the Beta (V0.1.0):
Global Mapping: I integrated the official Google Maps API to start building that library. You can find dive sites with absolute precision.
The Gear Locker: My background in public safety diving taught me that equipment maintenance is life-critical.
Track service dates for Regulators, Tanks, and BCDs.
Get reminders when your hydro or visual inspection is due.
Ensure your kit is always mission-ready.
Gamifying: Exploration Diving is about adventure, and I want to recognize that. We are building a system that rewards you for exploring. When you log a dive that does not exist in our database yet, you get the credit for the listing. Your discovery becomes a permanent part of the map for all divers to find and explore.
But it is also about your personal milestones. We are building a dynamic badge system to track your achievements. Whether you earn the 'Cold Water Warrior' badge for braving the north, the 'Explorer' badge for mapping new territory, or the exclusive 'Founder' badge for joining us during this Beta—your profile will tell your story. It’s about building a legacy in the sport.
Join the Build: This is currently in Beta. That means I am actively listening to what you think needs to be added. If you want a specific feature—like boat sharing or specific event types—you can tell me, and we will build it.
Let’s build the world’s best dive community.
Stay safe.
