About this app

For skydiving, checking the wind before the jump is the most important step.

Wind Check is a weather app dedicated to skydivers that displays wind profiles by altitude at a glance, showing not only ground wind speeds but also the actual exit altitude.

■ Wind Profiles by Altitude

Freely select your desired altitude in 500ft increments from the ground up to 30,000ft to check wind direction and speed. It provides precise wind data for each altitude based on actual weather observations.

■ Automatic Wind Shear Detection

A warning badge is automatically displayed if the wind direction changes abruptly between adjacent altitudes. Check for danger signals in advance that could affect canopy control.

■ 48-Hour Forecast

Moving the time with the slider updates the wind and warnings by altitude for that specific time. Check "what it will be like tomorrow afternoon" in advance and plan accordingly.

■ GO / CAUTION / NO-GO Warnings

It intuitively displays whether a jump is possible, like a traffic light, by combining ground winds, gusts, low-level clouds, and precipitation.

■ Customize Standards by Drop Zone

Standards vary by drop zone. Please manually input the criteria for surface wind, gust, low-level clouds, and precipitation to match your specific drop zone.

■ Select Wind Speed ​​Unit

You can choose a familiar unit from kn (knots), m/s, or km/h. Even if you change the unit, the set standard values ​​will automatically convert accordingly.

■ Favorite Drop Zones

Save up to 10 frequently visited drop zones. You can assign a custom name to manage them using the drop zone's original name.

■ Search Region & Select Map

Search for a drop zone name or tap the map directly to view wind conditions at your desired location. You can also load your current location directly using GPS.

■ No Internet Access

There is a manual input mode. You can directly input values ​​confirmed by Windy or aviation forecasts (TAF/METAR) to receive the same wind shear analysis and GO/NO-GO judgments. The app runs normally even in drop zones with unstable connectivity. ■ Recommended for:

■ Data Sources

We use the Open-Meteo API, which provides weather model data from sources such as the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and NOAA. The selected altitude value is an estimate interpolated between the actual observed altitude and the selected value.

The information provided by this app is a general guideline for reference only. The final decision regarding whether a jump is possible must be made by your affiliated drop zone manager or instructor.
