With the Explore Árainn app you can explore the ancient and medieval history of one of Ireland’s most famous offshore islands. Along the way you’ll discover a network of monuments that span 3000 years.
As well as the world-renowned stone fort Dún Aonghasa, you’ll also learn about the lesser known landmarks on the island. Like another spectacular fort called Dún Dúchathar, also perched at the edge of a cliff! Or the great monastic centre established by Éanna, Árainn’s patron saint.
In addition to a wealth of information, photos and artist illustrations of each site, the app also includes 3D reconstructions for you to explore. See what the church at Teampall Chiaráin looked like when the roof was thatched. Hotspots provide fascinating facts about specific features of each site.
