About this app

Note & Key is studio-management software for private music teachers — and the families they teach.

ONE STUDIO, EVERY DETAIL
• Today's lessons, outstanding invoices, and the practice queue on one dashboard
• Student profiles with instrument, grade level, parent contacts, and private notes
• Month-grid schedule for the whole studio with one-tap day detail
• Two-way Google Calendar sync (Pro) — lessons flow both ways

PRACTICE WITH AUDIO REVIEW
• Students submit a recording from the phone in their hand
• Teacher listens at 0.5×–2× speed, pins feedback to the exact moment in the audio, approves
• Three minutes per student instead of fifteen — and the family always knows what to practice next

INVOICES + PAYMENTS
• Generate a draft invoice straight from a student's completed lessons in one tap — no manual line-item entry
• Email it through us; the family needs no setup
• Family pays by card via Stripe Checkout, by Interac e-Transfer (Canada), or by note-to-teacher
• Every payment is tracked against its invoice automatically

INCOME & TAX REPORTING
• Fiscal-year aware — set your country and Note & Key uses the right tax year (US, Canada and Ireland on the calendar year; UK 6 Apr–5 Apr; Australia 1 Jul–30 Jun)
• Year-to-date gross, year-over-year trend, quarterly subtotals, top students by revenue
• Tax-deductible expense tracking across 13 categories; net income computed automatically
• One-tap "tax pack" CSV formatted for your country — IRS Schedule C, CRA T2125, HMRC Self Assessment, the ATO, or Revenue Form 11
• Your next estimated-tax deadline, right on the dashboard
• Multi-currency: USD, CAD, GBP, AUD, EUR

THE FAMILY SIDE
• Parents and students share one simple household login
• Next lesson, open assignments, and "Submit practice" front and centre
• This month's invoice and how to pay — without learning a new tool

FREE AND PRO ON ANDROID
• The free tier covers 1 student plus everything you need to evaluate the app end to end
• Note & Key Pro adds unlimited students, variable-speed audio review with timestamped comments, two-way Google Calendar sync, income analytics and per-country tax exports, Interac e-Transfer tracking, exam-prep tracking, and custom invoice branding
• Pro subscriptions are not yet available for purchase on Google Play. If your studio already has Pro, sign in and it carries over; otherwise ask your studio owner about access

PRIVACY
• Sign in by magic-link email or Google — your choice
• Your studio's data is yours; never sold, never used for ads
• No advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels, no third-party ad SDKs

IMPORTANT
Note & Key is a coordination tool for private music teachers and the families they teach. Payments between teacher and family (Stripe Checkout, Interac e-Transfer) are direct, teacher-to-family — Note & Key is not a marketplace, does not match teachers with students, does not process payments between users, and does not facilitate work-for-hire. Every account is invited by the studio owner (the teacher) directly. Practice audio is recorded with the student's or guardian's consent on the family's own device.
