Hellfire is the abode that God has prepared for those who disbelieve in Him, rebel against His law, and deny His messengers. It is His punishment with which He torments His enemies, and His prison where He confines the criminals. And it is the greatest disgrace and the most terrible loss, beyond which there is no greater disgrace or loss. Our Lord, indeed, whomever You admit to the Fire – You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. [Al Imran: 192] Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger will have the Fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein? That is the great disgrace. [At-Tawbah: 63] And He said: Indeed, the losers are those who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the loss. The Manifest [Az-Zumar: 15]. And how could Hell not be as we have described, with its torment, pain, and sorrow that our pens cannot write, nor our tongues describe? Moreover, it is eternal, and its inhabitants will abide therein eternally. Therefore, the Truth has elaborated at length on the condemnation of the abode of the people of Hell: “Indeed, it is an evil abode and residence” [Al-Furqan: 66]. And indeed, for the transgressors is an evil destination—Hell, which they will enter. And wretched is the resting place.

Author: Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr, Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Sufyan ibn Qays al-Baghdadi al-Qurashi, their freedman, one of the freedmen of the Banu Umayya (208 AH - 281 AH), nicknamed Ibn Abi al-Dunya (a nickname that overshadowed his given name until he became known by it). Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr was born in Baghdad in the early third century AH (208 AH). He was an Arab historian and educator who tutored the Abbasid Caliph al-Mu'tadid and his son al-Muktafi. Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir, may God have mercy on him, said of him in his work al-Bidaya wa'l-Nihaya: "He was renowned for his numerous, beneficial, widely circulated, and widely known works on topics of spiritual refinement and other subjects. He was truthful, a memorizer of hadith, and a man of integrity."

❇️ What Was Said About the Description of Hell by Ibn Abi al-Dunya ❇️

Hell is the greatest disgrace, the most manifest loss, and the most painful punishment.

Its fire is blazing, its edges are vast, and its bottom is deep. Its air is poisonous, and its water is boiling water.

It consumes everything, leaving nothing behind. It burns the skin and destroys Bones are consumed, and what is in the bellies is melted. Over them are angels, stern and severe.

Woe to him who enters it! He will be tormented with the most severe punishment, and the doors will be closed upon him. Boiling water will be poured over his head, and the fire will scorch his face.

His food will be bitter thorns and the fruit of the Zaqqum tree, and his drink will be boiling water and pus. He will cry out, begging to be released or to die, but there will be no answer.

This is a warning to those who neglect their religious duties, sever ties of kinship, violate sacred boundaries, permit murder unjustly, consume usury and the wealth of orphans, and spread immorality.
