Study for your esthetician state board written exam — on the bus, between clients, ten minutes at a time.
WHAT YOU GET
• Practice questions across every domain on the written exam, each with a written explanation of why the answer is right
• Timed mock exams built to the real format: 110 questions, 90 minutes, four options per question
• Short readings for each topic, written to the current content outline
• Progress tracking by domain, so you can see which area is actually holding you back
• A missed-questions set that builds itself from what you get wrong
• Questions are shuffled every attempt, so you learn the material rather than the order
BUILT AROUND YOUR STATE
Not every state uses the same esthetics written exam. Open Boards, pick your state, and the app tells you which written exam you sit, who delivers it, and which content outline your questions come from — so you are not studying someone else's exam. Where we could not confirm a state from an official source, we say so instead of guessing.
WHAT THIS VERSION COVERS
Questions and readings are written to the NIC National Esthetics Theory Examination outline — the exam used by the largest single block of states. If your state runs its own exam (California and Texas do, among others), Boards will tell you that, and the science and skin-care material here still applies to what you are studying.
TOPICS COVERED
Scientific Concepts (55% of the NIC exam): microbiology, infection control, safety and SDS, anatomy and physiology, histology of the skin, skin disorders and diseases, hair structure and growth, basic chemistry and pH.
Skin Care and Services (45% of the NIC exam): client consultation, draping and client protection, skin analysis and Fitzpatrick types, contraindications, treatment protocol, facials, cleansing, steaming, exfoliation, massage movements, extraction, masks, sun protection and home care, electrical equipment, makeup, lash and brow services, hair removal, body treatments, and advanced topics including dermaplaning, nano infusion and microdermabrasion.
