About this app

Rx Formulation Aspects-I is the practical companion for dispensing pharmacy — the whole bench workflow in your pocket, and it works completely offline.

Dispensing means preparing and supplying a medicine in a suitable dosage form, in a suitable container, with a proper label, against a prescription written by a registered medical practitioner. Standard texts cover the theory well, but nothing puts the recipe, the conversion, the formula, the method and the finished label side by side while you are actually at the laboratory bench. That is what this app was built for.

Designed for degree and diploma pharmacy students to perform experiments smoothly in the pharmaceutics laboratory, and for teachers who conduct them.

WHAT IS INSIDE

• More than 50 official dispensed products
• 18 classes of dosage form
• 10 sections of information for every single product
• Fully offline — no internet needed after install
• Search every product by name, dosage form or therapeutic category
• Light and dark themes, adjustable reading text size

EVERY PRODUCT IS COVERED IN TEN PARTS

• Recipe — the Latin formula exactly as the prescriber writes it for the pharmacist
• Conversion — imperial quantities converted into the metric system
• Dispensing formula — Latin translated to English, with the amount prescribed and the amount dispensed
• Comments — why each ingredient is present and what it contributes
• Method of dispensing — step-wise procedure, plus the container the product is dispensed in
• Directions — route, dose, frequency and manner of administration for the patient
• Storage conditions — what is required to keep the preparation stable
• Category — the therapeutic class the preparation belongs to
• Auxiliary label — the cautions and warnings that go on the container
• Product label — a sample of the finished label as it should be dispensed, ready to copy

DOSAGE FORM CLASSES

Aromatic waters, mixtures, elixirs, lotions, emulsions, liniments, ear drops, mouthwashes, gargles, throat paints, enemas, douches, inhalations, powders, dusting powders, insufflations, effervescent granules and tablet triturates.

NEWLY REDESIGNED

The app has been rebuilt from the ground up: a clean Material Design interface, dosage form pictograms, product cards that show the therapeutic category and patient directions at a glance, instant search across every preparation, tabbed product pages, properly formatted tables that fit a phone screen, a dark theme and adjustable text size.

COMPILED FROM STANDARD SOURCES

Content was compiled by referring to standard dispensing pharmacy textbooks and laboratory manuals along with official pharmacopoeias — the Indian Pharmacopoeia, British Pharmacopoeia, United States Pharmacopoeia and British Pharmaceutical Codex. The full bibliography is listed inside the app.

WHO IT IS FOR

• B. Pharm and D. Pharm students preparing for practical examinations
• Pharmacy teachers demonstrating dispensing experiments
• Anyone studying compounding, dispensing and dosage form design

Note: this app is an academic reference for pharmacy education. It is not a substitute for professional judgement, and it does not provide medical advice or a prescription.

Suggestions are always welcome — we update the app based on what students and teachers ask for.
