About this app

Nule is the accounts app built for UK sole traders — plumbers, electricians, builders, decorators, gas engineers and every other tradie who'd rather be on a job than wrestling a spreadsheet.

Log a job, capture an expense, send an invoice, track your mileage — in seconds, on the van, on the site, with one thumb. No menus, no accounting jargon, no shoebox of receipts.

KEY FEATURES

- Jobs and clients — every transaction tagged to the job that earned it. See profitability per job instantly. Quote, schedule, and invoice from one place.

- Expenses and materials — snap a photo of a receipt and Nule files it against the right job. Track what was bought, where on the site it was used, what it cost.

- Mileage — log trips with start and end points. The HMRC-approved mileage rate is applied automatically, so the deduction is right at year-end.

- Invoices and quotes — professional PDFs that look like you spent an hour on them. Email straight from the app.

- Tax set aside — Nule estimates what you'll owe HMRC and tells you what's "safe to spend" today. No more January nasty surprises.

- Business insights — quietly surfaces patterns in your data ("you've billed less in June than May", "this Screwfix run is double your usual"). All computed locally on your phone — nothing leaves the device for inference.

- Accountant export — Xero, QuickBooks, Sage CSV plus a plain transaction export. Your accountant gets clean data; you get the discount on their hours.

- Offline-first — works on-site without signal. Captures sync in the background when you're back online.

MAKING TAX DIGITAL (BETA)

Nule includes full Making Tax Digital VAT and Income Tax filing. Build the 9-box VAT return from your transactions, review the figures, tap submit — Nule talks to HMRC for you.

The MTD module is currently in beta against HMRC's sandbox environment while our application for production credentials is under review by HMRC's Software Developer Support Team. Until that approval lands, "Submit to HMRC" sends to HMRC's test environment so you can rehearse the full flow. The rest of the app — jobs, expenses, mileage, invoicing, tax forecasting, accountant export — is production ready and live today.
