Chip Express is a learning app designed from the ground up for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It's not an educational app with added accessibility features: every design decision stems from how a child with learning difficulties learns.
NO MISTAKES, NO PUNISHMENT
The child never sees a mistake. When they make a mistake, the app provides the help they need instead of highlighting it in red. There are no timers, no error sounds, and no "you've lost" screens. The difficulty increases automatically when they master something and decreases silently when they're struggling.
ONE DECISION PER SCREEN
Large buttons, fixed positions that never change, one task at a time. The instructions remain on the screen while the child works, with a button to hear them again as many times as needed.
VISUAL CHANNEL FIRST
Everything important is seen, not just heard. Voice and pictograms throughout, a fixed color for each subject, and a Calm Mode that reduces screen movement.
WITH YOUR VOICE AND THEIR PHOTOS
You can record your own instructions so your voice speaks to them, and add photos of their belongings, their home, and their loved ones to work on the vocabulary that truly matters to them. Personalization is free and always will be.
A WHOLE WORLD FOR FREE
Try it before you pay: a complete world, no cuts. With a child with ASD, the fit is very individual, and you need to be able to see if they're engaged before spending a penny.
FOR THE ADULT
Behind a door with a math problem, an area where you can see what your child struggles with for each letter, number, or color; a reinforcement plan for today; a report you can show their therapist; and specific advice for applying what they've already mastered to the real world.
NO INTERNET, NO THIRD-PARTY ADVERTISING, NO DATA
The app works entirely offline. There's no third-party advertising, no analytics, no accounts, and no data is collected. Recordings and photos never leave the tablet. In the adult section, you'll only see a notification for the other Chip Adventure apps.
Chip Express was born out of a real need: a parent who couldn't find an app that worked for their child. It continues to be developed with that same goal in mind.
