About this app

Type and handwrite in the same note. Oaklet Notes puts your writing, handwriting, whiteboards, tables, and math on one page, and keeps everything in an encrypted vault on your device. No account needed, and it works fully offline.

Fast, even with big notes
• Unlocking your vault takes a fraction of the time it used to
• Very long notes and large tables open quickly and stay responsive while you type
• With a sync hub on one of your own computers, changes reach your other devices in seconds

One note, every way you think
• A block-based editor for text, headings, lists, checklists, quotes, and code
• Write by hand with a stylus or your finger, right over your text. Your handwriting moves with the line it's next to
• Handwriting is recognized on your device, so search finds what you wrote by hand, and you can turn it into typed text. The recognition model (about 20 MB) is downloaded from Google the first time it's needed
• Whiteboards for mind maps and flowcharts, drawings with layers, tables with formulas, LaTeX math, and Mermaid diagrams
• Lay out blocks side by side, or freely as cards connected with lines
• Decorations: stickers, sticky notes, washi tape, and stamps

Locked to you
• AES-256-GCM encryption protects every note
• A vault password, plus an optional password for any note that needs extra protection
• Unlock with your fingerprint or face
• The vault locks itself when you step away
• Your notes never pass through our servers

Connect your notes

• An interactive knowledge graph that shows how your notes connect
• Nested tags, full-text search, and a calendar view

AI if you want it: your provider, your key
• AI is optional. Connect your own AI provider with your own API key, or a model you host yourself. The app talks to the provider you choose; it does not host one
• Semantic search, drafting and rewriting, and questions about your notes

Your devices, your server
• Direct Share sends a note straight to a nearby device after a one-time pairing code. Transfers are encrypted end to end, with no server in between
• Sync through one of your own computers or your own WebDAV server or NAS. Notes are encrypted before they leave your phone
• Bring notes over from other apps: .enex files and Markdown exports
• Export to PDF, HTML, Word, and Markdown
• Interface in English, German, and Chinese
• Also on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, and iPad

Oaklet Notes is free to use. An optional Pro subscription adds sync, the knowledge graph, AI writing tools, PDF, HTML, and Word export, fingerprint and face unlock, and more.
