I agree with all of the comments about the AI cheating. I can't tell you how many times I've experienced the AI doubling in the oddest times - - it's clearly behind in the game and no rational player would double at that point - - then it rolls three doubles in a row, or gets the most improbable roll to bar me, and then goes on to win. It seems to get worse the higher my experience rating goes too. I'm uninstalling it.

Game plays a reasonable beginner game at the lowest level. I am deducting stars because it takes too many games to get to a level for advanced players. (Dumb restriction). My experience level is now 1400 and testing around 1950. It feels like the game gets a lot of lucky else to make up for its lack of skill. It makes a lot of bad plays for the rating it claims to have. I used to say these games have fair dice, but I am now not so sure. I should log rolls for certain key situations.

Even in the most difficult level, the computer opponent makes moves that not even a beginner would do: Moving checkers to the ones instead of bearing of (and losing a sure game). Leaving a checker in the opponents home over many rounds (and losing this way 3x instead of 2x or even 1x). That has nothing to do with rating and difficulty. That is just bad programming and an insult for all the backgammon players out there!

Thank you for your comment! The difficulty is relative to your current rating. You start at 1500 and at that level you will not face very strong opponents. Win your way up and things will change. Go to Statistics to see the current rating distribution and where you stand compared to the other players.
