About this app

Play it. See it. Hear it. Learn any scale in minutes.

Oexta Scale Quest puts every scale, chord and arpeggio right on your instrument, so you see exactly where your fingers go and hear how it should sound. Guitar, ukulele, piano, saxophone and harmonica, a tuner and step by step quests, all in one app that works offline.

FREE NOW, PRO LATER
Every feature is free right now. A Pro version is coming, so this app will not stay free forever. Everyone who installs it now keeps every feature free for good, including any Pro features we add later.

FIVE INSTRUMENTS IN ONE APP
• Guitar: every scale across the whole fretboard, colour coded by finger, one position at a time. Build your own scale from intervals and the app names it (over 60 scales and modes).
• Ukulele: the same shapes on four strings.
• Piano: scales and chords on the keyboard, with inversions and keyboard drills.
• Saxophone: the fingering for every note, alto or tenor.
• Harmonica: holes, blow and draw, and the notes of each scale on your harmonica.

QUESTS THAT TEACH YOU STEP BY STEP
• Short lessons for each instrument, from your first scale upward.
• A pointer shows you exactly what to tap next, and if it is on another tab it tells you which one.
• Earn your way through each world at your own pace.

SEE IT, HEAR IT, PLAY ALONG
• 19 built-in scales and modes, from major and minor to blues and pentatonic.
• Chords in any key: tap one to see it, then step through its voicings.
• Arpeggios: 29 types with their notes and intervals.
• Hear any scale, chord or progression at your own tempo, and play along with tunes.
• Full screen, sideways view for wide fretboards and keyboards.
• Theory explained simply: why each chord fits the key.

A TUNER THAT LISTENS ON YOUR DEVICE
• Guitar, ukulele, bass, alto and tenor sax, or any note (chromatic).
• A needle shows how sharp or flat you are and the string you are closest to lights up. Tap a string to hear its note.
• Set A4 from 430 to 450 Hz. Sound is checked on your device and never recorded or uploaded.

MADE FOR LEARNERS AND TEACHERS
• Works offline, light and dark themes.
• Big, clear diagrams that read well on a phone, a tablet or a classroom screen.
• No account and no tracking.
