Absolutely the only app that actually works to get me off my phone. I set it to allow texts and nothing else nearly all the time. (Tip: turn off the "watch ad to unlock phone" feature.) You'll be amazed at how much new time you have to engage with the real world. Thank you!!! Note: sometimes an alarm will ring that I forgot about and I won't be able to turn it off. That's my fault, but usually if I'm quick enough I can slide the cancel button before the screen gets blocked by Off the Grid.

Glad you like it! You can whitelist your alarm app if you want to use it while Off the Grid.

This was great for about 2 weeks. Signed up for the paid subscription for 5 apps since I have google home and other things I need if my phone is on lockdown and everything was fine. Now it won't let me select most of my apps - only the most basic ones like clock or calculator. Whats the point then!!!??? Support has been no help! Super disappointed.

Linda, Google just released our fix. Please update to the latest version (2.3.1) and it should fix the issue. Also, if you decide to subscribe again I would like to give you a few months for free. Since we caused all this trouble it is our way of saying sorry and thanks for using the app - email support@offthegridapp.com to claim this offer.

Good for getting me off my phone at night. You can set 1 app as an exception when off grid, after that you have to buy the premium version to set more. You have the option to still receive phone calls while off grid, and there is an emergency feature so that you can make calls. Edit: In response to the developer's question, in order for me to give the app 5 stars it would need to be more reliable. Sometimes (maybe 2-3 times a month) it does not turn on at the scheduled time.

Thanks Lauren, this is usually due to Android shutting down apps running in the background. You should be able to head into Settings, Apps, Off the Grid. You should see a place to tap for Battery (sometimes this is under "Advanced"). Under Battery Usage you might see an option to restrict background usage. You should turn this off.
