OffWatch is built for yacht crew.
Your Time. Your Port. Your People.
Crew move constantly — between yachts, marinas, ports and seasons. You end up in the same place as people you know, or people you would like to know, over and over, and almost never realise it. OffWatch exists to close that gap.
SEE WHO IS AROUND
Crew Nearby and the map show other OffWatch members in your area: the people close enough to actually meet before you sail, not a global feed of strangers.
Positions are deliberately approximate. Pins are snapped to a grid of roughly a kilometre, and the app is never sent anyone's exact position — not yours, and not theirs. Close enough to know someone is in town; nowhere near precise enough to find their door.
MAKE PLANS OFF WATCH
Events are the short-notice plans crew actually make — coffee before a shift, a swim, five-a-side, drinks after a long charter. Create one in a single screen: what it is, when, roughly where, how many people, and who can see it. Join something somebody else has started, and see who else is going. The exact meeting point is only shared with people who are going.
FIND THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE
Choose what you actually enjoy from a curated list grouped into Fitness, Water & Sea, Sport, Food & Drink, Nightlife & Social, Games, Culture & Creative, and Outdoors & Travel. That becomes Activities Nearby: each activity shown alongside how many people near you are into it.
START A CONVERSATION
You do not have to connect with someone first to say hello. Any verified crew member can message another, so a conversation never waits on both people tapping the same button. Blocking is always available, and blocking stops contact.
CONNECT, MUTUALLY
Favourite someone and they are never told. If they favourite you back, you become Connections — and only then does either of you see it. There are no followers here and no follower counts.
Being Connections adds the rest: an arrival notification when one of you turns up nearby again, and the social links you have each chosen to share with Connections.
YOU DECIDE WHO SEES YOU
OffWatch keeps two questions apart, because they are not the same question. "Who can see me?" sets the audience for your own profile. "Who I want to see?" filters what you get shown. Each has its own screen and its own settings.
Your filters can only ever narrow. Nothing in them can widen the set of people you are allowed to see, and that is enforced on the server rather than in the app. Visibility covers the blunt cases too: visible, connections only, or stealth — and stealth works both ways, so you cannot browse from behind one-way glass.
A VERIFIED COMMUNITY
OffWatch is for adults. Members verify their identity through a third-party verification provider; OffWatch never receives or stores your identity documents. Verification supports a community of real crew — it is not a guarantee about any individual, and no system can be. You can report or block anyone, and delete your account at any time, in the app or at off-watch.com/delete-account.
IN BETA, WITH YACHT CREW
OffWatch is being tested with yacht crew right now, and what testers tell us shapes what gets built next. Beta access is free — there is nothing to buy, and nothing is held back from testers. Places are limited and we admit people in batches, so joining is not instant access.
