Your grandfather went into the desert looking for a door that should not exist. His name was struck from the academy. His notes were called forgery. He never came back.
You are Shaemus O'Frantic, and you have just found the tomb.
Labyrinth of the Void is a turn-based, top-down roguelike set in an Egyptian tomb that builds itself anew every time you enter. Thirty-one by thirty-one squares of stone, sand and something much older, and none of it will be where you left it.
HOW IT PLAYS
- Roll for movement. Each turn gives you a handful of steps — never quite as many as you want. Spend them badly and the tomb spends them for you.
- A new maze every run. The labyrinth is generated from scratch each time. Nothing you memorise will save you twice.
- Death teaches. When you fall, you get back up — but the tomb remembers, and so should you.
WHAT YOU WILL FIND DOWN THERE
- An ankh, which mummies will not walk past
- Dynamite, for the thing that lives under the floor
- A blaster, for everything the dynamite misses
- Wisps that carry you three moves straight through solid stone
- The Box of Chaos, which tears the labyrinth down and rebuilds it around you
- An obsidian seed — swallow it and become the VOIDWEAVER: walk through walls, and tear holes in the world with WEAVE
THE FLOOR BELOW
There are invisible traps in front of the shrine, and they are not optional. You will fall. What waits underneath is not part of the tomb and never was: things that track you across open ground, machinery that answers to the right touch, and something that wakes up angry when you break the wrong thing.
THE CRONE
She cannot be killed. She can only be surrounded — sealed in behind the black holes you tear open yourself. Her reach lights up in red before she moves. Step into it, and you are woven into the void with her.
THE DIARY
Your grandfather's journal is scattered through the tomb, page by page, and he was not writing it for you. He was writing it for himself, in the dark, in a hurry. The pages arrive when you need them and not one turn earlier — which is its own kind of cruelty.
